FLOATING POINTS

Cascade pushes Floating Points’ sound into new territories. The eight tracks here smoulder and spark for up to eight minutes each, allowing for more expansive exploration of sounds and grooves than ever before. A subtle homage to his hometown of Manchester ripples through Cascade. "Afflecks Palace," named after a Mancunian market known as an “emporium of eclecticism,” features an enveloping glide of harp melodies overtaken by otherworldly bleeps and beeps. Elsewhere, there’s "Key 103," named after an underground Manchester radio station that a young Sam Shepherd would listen to religiously. Nearly a decade since Elaenia, his revered debut album, the composer has seamlessly woven his experiments outside of club music into his dancefloor designs.
