Alex Jones brings his Dense & Pika project to home base on the ‘Lynn’ EP, delivering, alongside partner Chris Spero, a storming 4 track single for Hypercolour. After a hugely successful 12 months touring the live/DJ hybrid D&P show around the globe, the single is remarkably their very first release for the label.

‘Lynn’ carries all the trademarks of the Dense & Pika sound that has become the signature style on a quartet of well-received singles for Scuba’s Hotflush label. The punchy and brooding backbeat springs into life with vocal stabs, drop outs, reverse FX and industrial sized glitches, whilst keeping an uber tight production that will no doubt hold its place in the ever popular D&P shows.

Elsewhere on the EP, ‘Tantrum’ pumps like a vintage piece of EBM (that’s electronic body music to you and I), evoking shades of Nitzer Ebb and other 80s exponents of the mechanical funk sound, whilst ‘Sycophant’ is another show stopper; its grizzly bassline and persistent cowbell action is interwoven with pitch shifting synths and sci-fi loaded effects.

EP closer, ‘Hitting The Ceiling’ shows no sign of softening the sound; with a speaker shattering kick drum and wooly hats, an ominous vocal stab and supernatural synths nicely wrapping up this great quartet of tracks from one of the UK’s hottest techno talents right now….
